Following inpatient rehab, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) represents the next phase in addiction recovery, striking a balance between the continuous care of inpatient hospitalization and the autonomy of outpatient care. At The Recovery Village Indianapolis, PHP provides patients with essential medical support while they develop crucial skills for maintaining sobriety.

If any of the following apply to you, your clinical team may suggest transitioning to PHP as part of your care:
You’ve completed medical detoxification and/or residential care.
You require daily rehabilitation but not inpatient care.
You have co-occurring mental health disorders.
You seek assistance in transitioning to a normal daily routine after rehab.

After completing inpatient treatment, enrolling in a partial hospitalization program (PHP) sets the stage for transitioning to independent living and returning to a regular lifestyle.
Typically, PHP patients engage in 9–20 hours of evidence-based treatment per week, spanning 5–7 days. Our medical team attends to your physical, mental, and social requirements, curating a therapeutic regimen comprising evidence-based therapies and holistic approaches to nurture your recovery journey each day.

Most national and local insurance providers are affiliated with The Recovery Village Indianapolis. We’re ready to verify your insurance coverage or discuss private payment options with you.
Medical detox is not provided as part of a PHP. Individuals who need medical detox can complete that program separately before starting the PHP phase of treatment.
Leaving treatment early often leads to relapse and overdose, so we always encourage clients to complete their treatment plan in full. However, clients may leave treatment, even against medical advice, at any time as long as they are not a danger to themselves or others.
Yes, PHPs help clients transition from the intensive environment of inpatient treatment to living on their own in outpatient care. It ensures clients get the right balance of medical care and independence at a critical stage. Without a smooth transition, patients may have an increased risk of relapse, overdose, and other difficult outcomes.
Insurance may cover some or all of a patient’s PHP stay. Copays and meeting deductibles may still be involved. Without insurance, The Recovery Village can discuss a private payment plan with you.
Attending inpatient treatment will mean leaving your job, at least temporarily, but there are several laws in place that can help protect employees when they attend inpatient rehab.
Treating your addiction is the best way to create a better future for your children. While there are no guarantees you’ll maintain child custody, completing rehab to reduce the negative effects of addiction on your life may make you more likely to keep your children.
